The objectives of the M.S. in Chemistry program at Eastern Illinois University are to prepare well-trained graduates for 1) responsible positions in the chemical industry, government, and other organizations with a technical workforce; 2) entry into and completion of rigorous Ph.D. programs; 3) successful careers in teaching chemistry at the community college or small four-year college level. Through a combination of coursework and a research-based thesis, students are provided with breadth as well as focus in a particular area.
